Flashback Friday - Do You Remember...

... these "great" hits? Well, if they're great or not, is completely in the eye (or ear) of the beholder, but whilst going through my collection, I dug up some tunes that I just had to listen to again. Maybe some of them will bring back some good (or bad) memories for you, too. Try it!

M.A.R.R.S. - Pump Up The Volume

You MUST remember this if you grew up in the 80ies. And you'll probably must remember the video, too. I still think the song and video are dead cool. Put the needle on the record!

Star Turn On 45 Pints - Pump Up The Bitter

Can't have one without the other, can you? I remember this one to be funnier when it was originally released, but it's still good enough for a few giggles. Cheers!

Guru Josh - Infinity

I quite like instrumental music, and in the 80ies, we got quite a few synthie hymns to feast our ears on. Guru Josh here has also contributed one, and has managed to leave a tiny footprint in 80ies music. Disappeared into the big one-hit-wonder-nirvana after this (probably because of that stupid sleeve pic!).

Koto - Visitors (Remix)

Another instrumental that was often heard at the local discotheque. I always pictured Koto as some nerdy technics freak who happened to have some talent with synthies. Don't ask me where that picture came from. But he produced some fine tunes.

S-Express - Theme From S-Express

"Drop that ghettoblaster!" Easily one of the best and original dance tracks of the 80ies. The follow-up, Superfly Guy, was quite ok, too, but never reached the heights of the Theme. Enjoy this trip!

Al Stewart - Year Of The Cat

Can't recall when I heard this one for the first time, but I know how I felt then. The middle solo part just blew me away. First the acoustic guitar, followed by the electric one, and to finish it off, the saxophone. Wonderful tune!

Cycle Sluts From Hell - I Wish You Were A Beer

Best band name ever! The song's a bit rubbish, really, but it always puts a smile on my face, especially the guitar solo at the end. It doesn't get trashier than this, but you just gotta love these girls!

Racey - Some Girls

Talk about Trash: here are some nice guys. Somehow you should think that a simple song like this should have easily been forgotten by now, but it keeps on turning up again and again and again. I guess I will never completely understand the laws of music history...

"But the drumbeat strains of the night remain In the rhythm of the new-born day"
